Writing imbued with a sense of place particularly resonates for me

Poetika is one of the best things about Salisbury. You can read out others’ work for the sheer pleasure of revisiting it. Or if you venture to share your own, it is always met with warm encouragement. Poetika nurtures reflection, creativity, insight and laughter, and it is often the perfect night out.

I did English at St Andrews University because I had fallen in love with the written word. I wrestle with poetry to express my deepest feelings, often about nature. Seamus Heaney is my poetic hero but there are many more and some extraordinary talents locally, at Poetika. Writing imbued with a sense of place particularly resonates for me.
